Bender Funk

Bender Funk is a Charleston dance band that works in funk and soul, with rock never far away. Songs from across the decades, from Motown and blues to current Top 40, get reshaped with the band's own funky spin, and the aim on stage is to get people dancing. The core is a four-piece, and local horn and keyboard players can be added when a private event calls for a bigger sound. The band brings its own production and needs only power at the venue. It plays bar and club dates around the Lowcountry and weddings and private parties, and travels up to about 200 miles. The group started out on Folly Beach, with regular Friday nights at Rita's Seaside Grille, and went on to play Planet Follywood, the Surf Bar, the Purple Buffalo in North Charleston, the Celtic Knot in Summerville and Charleston Pride at Brittlebank Park. Singer and songwriter Jaymee Zdanek leads the band.
