Zach Quillen is a Charleston guitarist and singer who fronts the blues trio Sufferin' Moses and also plays solo acoustic sets. His music draws from blues, Southern rock and country, and he names Freddie King, CCR, Chris Stapleton and Sturgill Simpson as touchstones. On his own he brings a Southern-rock-leaning acoustic set to rooms like the Anson Lounge at Henry's On The Market. With Sufferin' Moses he has worked across the Lowcountry, including Surf Bar on Folly Beach, The Tattooed Moose, Revelry Brewing and Low Tide Brewery. Quillen grew up in Dover, Ohio, began performing at 12 and studied choral music education at Ohio University, where he met guitarist Brad Huffman. The pair moved to Charleston in 2008 and formed Sufferin' Moses with drummer Sean Harshaw; the trio reached the semifinals of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2015. He also plays piano, bass, trombone and steel drums.
